If you’ve noticed your scalp feeling a little dry, red, flaky, or itchy, a Ginger & Maude Scalp Treatment—a service that boosts scalp health by cleansing, nourishing, and removing buildup and dead skin—might be the solution you’re looking for. Tamara is telling us more.
What is the Scalp Treatment service offered at Ginger & Maude?
For this service, we do a thorough consultation to learn any concerns you may have about your scalp and tailor the treatment to meet your needs. After, we’ll go through and softly exfoliate any buildup, dry skin, etc.; apply the treatment and let it sit for 10 minutes; then finish with a shampoo, condition, and blow-dry. A massage is included if desired!
Why should clients know about the Scalp Treatment service?
A lot of times, when the seasons change, we notice changes in our skin and hair. A Scalp Treatment service is great for detoxifying your scalp, removing impurities, and helping to promote a healthy environment for hair to grow. It’s a really great way to refresh our scalp for the new season coming up.
Who is it recommended for?
-A Scalp Treatment is perfect for anyone wanting to promote a really healthy, clean scalp for great hair growth.
-I’d recommend it to anyone who uses products that are applied to the scalp—say, dry shampoo—it’s great to remove any buildup.
-For folks experiencing a dry scalp, it really helps with exfoliation and removing any impurities.
-It’s also just a lovely, relaxing, invigorating service for anyone.
Who should hold off?
-If you are experiencing any type of scalp condition, such as psoriasis, eczema, severe dandruff, etc., or have any other concerns, I would recommend talking to your doctor first and getting an okay from them before booking a Scalp Treatment.
-If you have any type of open wound or sore on your scalp, you’ll definitely need to hold off until it is healed.
-It might not be the best add-on service if you have a super, super sensitive or tender head, so you’ll want to talk with your stylist about the treatment itself to decide if it would be right for you.
-One other thing to note is it’s really important not to pair a scalp treatment with any color service. You’ll want to schedule them at least a week apart.
How often should I get one?
I think once a season should be good for those who want to keep their scalp really clean and fresh, about the same as what I often recommend to folks for getting haircuts. A quick tip, too, is you can book this as either a standalone service with a finishing blow-dry, which is lovely, or an add-on to your Haircut service as a special (and beneficial!) treat for yourself.
But honestly, you can get one as often as you want, especially if you’re feeling like your scalp is really asking for it (i.e. itching, flaking, or hyper oil production is present).
What’s great is that products like Ginger & Maude’s Fabulous.Hair.Shit Scalp Treatment make it possible to do treatments at home between visits, allowing you to stay on top of your scalp health even when you can’t make it into the salon. Come in for a Scalp Treatment and pick some up on your way out!
