Because we are all about being fierce changemakers at Ginger, we are donating $1,000 a month to charities we aggressively appreciate for the work they do to uplift, light up, and elevate this collective human experience. This month, we shine our light on Operation Nightwatch.
Nighttime can be some of the loneliest hours for houseless people. Operation Nightwatch provides nighttime hospitality for Portland’s unhoused population. Operation Nightwatch has two hospitality centers that provide not only a safe place where those on the streets can find food, socks, clothing, blankets, and medical care, but also caring staff and volunteers who will listen to their stories and welcome them as friends.
The Downtown Hospitality Center has become the hub of Nightwatch's activities, from its foot care clinics to its monthly Birthday Nights and Comedy Movie Nights. Operation Nightwatch also provides mental health services from Social Workers and Peer Support Specialists. Operation Nightwatch has a belief that having supportive services from people who have been in their shoes can bring deeper hope, community and healing. Ginger Salon is excited to support Operation Nightwatch as they continue to provide mental health services and a safe space to Portland’s houseless community.
