Summer is all fun and games until you are blazing lava hot and your short- to medium-length hair is only making things worse but all the up-do tutorials were created for folks with long tresses. 😢

Not anymore.

This hairstyle by Ligeia is quick, cute, and perfect for shorter hair lengths. (Plus, it works especially well for wavy or curly hair!)

You’ll need:

  • A comb
  • Hairpins
  • Mini hair elastics
  • Mini bobby pins
  • A fun clip
  • Hairspray

This style works best on second- or third-day hair. Ligeia washed and air-dried her hair the day before using KEVIN.MURPHY’s KILLER.TWIRLS Air-dry Crème and HAIR.RESORT Beach Texturizer.

  1. Separate your hair into front and back sections (use your ears as a rough guide). Don’t worry about clipping the sections away or anything like that, just a quick parting is fine.
  2. Take half of the back section (creating a standard center part) and secure it into a pigtail closer to the center of your head.
  3. Before tightening, use your fingers to create a small hole on the side of the elastic closest to your head.
  4. Flip the ponytail part of your pigtail up and through this hole. Pull tight.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 with the remaining back section.
  6. Take the longer parts of your front sections (leave out your bangs, or the hair around your face if you don’t have them) and clip them back using the hairpins.
  7. Use your fun clip to secure back the heavier side of your bangs. Use your comb to smooth back any flyaways and small bobby pins to clip back any smaller, unruly hairs.
  8. Taking another small bobby pin, secure back the other side of your bangs.
  9. Spritz hairspray (Ligeia chose BEDROOM.HAIR) to spray down any remaining smaller hairs and help secure everything in place.
  10. Done!

Stayin’ cool and stayin’ cute. This style’s a win-win. 🤗
