If you don’t already know, every month we donate to an organization that is doing good things. This month we were caught in between two, so we chose both: The Pad Project and Randall Children’s Hospital. Let’s talk a little bit about them.
If you’re living in the 21st century, you’ve probably heard about the Academy Award-winning short documentary, Period. End of Sentence. And if you haven’t we’re here to tell you all about it. The film follows the pad project, which is an organization that advocates for women and girls’ access to sanitary menstruation in developing countries by spreading awareness of the pad machine. The Pad Machine creates affordable, biodegradable pads from local materials also offers work opportunity as it needs to be operated and maintained.
In these countries, girls and women have little to no access to feminine hygiene products. Because of this, they resort to using leaves, ashes, or dirty rags which can cause infection, resulting in absences from school due to illness. Young girls commonly find themselves having to drop out of school at an early age due to poor attendance. So in sum, their M.O aims to give girls the opportunity to commit to their education. Ginger salon will be donating $300 to the organization. The Pad Project emphasizes that periods should end a sentence, not an education. Visit https://www.thepadproject.org/ for info on how to help these young queens thrive!
And of course, we’re showing love to our local babies too. Randall Children’s Hospital accepts toys (and other items such as clothes, shoes, toiletries, etc.) for donation, year-round. The RCH Team gifts all child patients a toy to bring warmth, ease, and comfort to their visit. Children who are hospitalized over a holiday or birthday are given a little somethin’ extra, which as we know, can go great lengths in daunting times. We want to help these babies feel right at home at times when they can’t be! So this month for every employee at Ginger, we are donating one stuffed animal to the hospital. RCH distributes gifts every day, so maintaining inventory can get challenging. Help these fabulous humans give their fabulous baby humans a warm experience by visiting https://www.legacyhealth.org/giving-and-support/giving-to-legacy/gifts-of-toys-and-other-items.aspx for donation guidelines!
