A career as a hairstylist starts with education, sustains with education, and thrives with education.
At Ginger & Maude, we take that seriously. Investing in continuing education not only means we are investing in our stylists and their careers, it means we’re investing in you, our clients, ensuring that every visit to the salon is your absolute best visit.
At the center of this mission is our Education Director, Nicki, who both works with stylists individually and facilitates group classes, regularly bringing in external hair experts to provide a multitude of resources from which stylists can learn. She roots her drive in the belief that hairstyling is a craft, and that just like with any craft, you get better the more you hone in on it.
“I always told myself that the moment I stopped seeking education as a stylist was the moment I may as well quit my job, because there’s always going to be something new to learn, something you can improve on. Trends are changing every day. If you aren’t keeping up with them, if you aren’t constantly finding ways to enhance and perfect your craft, you’re going to find yourself struggling to both connect with new clients and keep things fresh with existing ones. In the long term, you’re going to find yourself burned out. Continuing education pushes you to try those new things you might not otherwise feel confident doing. It keeps you excited, and that excitement is contagious; it makes you a better stylist for your clients.”
From Apprentice to New Talent, Stylist to Lead Stylist, whether in all-stylist trainings or one-on-one with Nicki, we pride ourselves on our dedication to supporting each and every stylist by encouraging them to continue learning and honing their craft, resulting in a better experience for everyone.
To us, that’s priceless.
